The Management Board acknowledges that the Environmental Performance of the Smurfit Kappa Group is fundamental to the company's business strategy. This Environmental Mission Statement complements the Company's business objectives that support sustainable development and its commitment to environmentally sound business practices.

The Smurfit Kappa Group is striving for effective protection of the environment by efficient use of resources, preventing pollution, minimising waste and promoting recycling, with active management in the pursuit of continual improvement of its environmental performance and affairs.

In order to meet these requirements and implement this mission, the Smurfit Kappa Group will establish Environmental Management Systems and site specific policies across the business, and also where possible, assist our customers and suppliers in improving their own environmental performance. The Smurfit Kappa Group will comply with all applicable environmental legislation and strive to be a good neighbour in all those communities where we operate.
This Missions Statement will be reinforced by the provision of information, communication and training to build internal and external awareness of our environmental commitment and performance, so that the Smurfit Kappa Group can face up to the environmental challenges of the future.
